All’s fair in love and Penny Wars!

The coins have been sorted, the pennies tallied, and the silver subtracted by an unbiased/impartial committee, highly fueled by coffee and shear excitement of declaring a winner.

Thanks to ALL the departments, staff, and students who donated coins, schemed against other departments, and possibly even resorted to subterfuge.

United Way of Haywood County will greatly benefit from the friendly competition at Haywood Community College.

The Rules of the Game

1 Penny = 1 point

Silver coins = negative points (face value of the coin)

Jars were left to their own devices; supervision was present to make sure no one switched flags or moved coins once deposited.

Without further ado (‘cause I know you’re all just dying to find out who won), here are the grand totals based by departmental jar (click image to enlarge)

FIRST PLACE: BUSINESS OFFICE/BOOKSTORE/PRINTSHOP/SECURITY/FACILITIES with a total of 1362 points

SECOND PLACE: REGIONAL CENTER FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF CHILDREN with a total of -34 points

THIRD PLACE: ADULT EDUCATION/DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION/TEACHING & LEARNING CENTER with a total of -40 points

HONORABLE MENTION: ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT/FINANCIAL AID/COUNSELING for raising the most money per jar with $54.85

First place winners will receive bragging rights for the remainder of the 2012-2013 academic year and some nice United Way shopping bags!

Again, the United Way Committee sincerely appreciates everyone’s participation in the 2012 Penny Wars competition.

We raised a grand total of $178.97 in loose change!
