Weekend Reading: The Bible Salesman (Clyde Edgerton)

3 sentences or less about fascinating books that beg to be read in less than 3 days.*

Clyde Edgerton's "The Bible Salesman"No less a luminary than David Sedaris counts this title among his favorites (“How good it feels to throw back one’s head and howl with a great comic novel”) but should you need more convincing please consider the following: Henry Dampier, who is in fact a Bible salesman, if a bit of a shady one with shaky faith, is drawn into a scheme by a legitimate con artist who causes Dampier to question both his life and the Bible’s teachings.  As you read Edgerton’s latest it evolves from a scam artist road trip into an hilarious character study that raises legitimate theological issues without preaching.

Curious? Check it out at the LRC or read the Kirkus Review to learn more.

*Individual reading times may vary due to factors such as fatigue, the presence of children, or beautiful WNC weather. The LRC is not responsible for books not finished within the advertised 3 days. We do, however,  guarantee that our library staff finds each featured title compelling enough that it may cause readers to lose sleep or skip favorite TV shows in order to find out what happens next.
